My sister is my inspiration

In 2001 my sister died of Lupus. She was only 25, very young and very beautiful. After her death, I kept thinking about all the things that she loved to do. One thing she enjoyed was watching the Food Network. I used to ask her, why she liked watching people cook. I thought she was a crazy person. She always liked to cook, and her food was delicious, and memorable, but I had no interest whatsoever in how the food was made, just that it tasted good. But after Stacey died, I started watching the Food Network, I was watching it for her. After a few weeks something happened, I realized I was acquiring a real interest in food, I wanted to know more and more. I suddenly discovered that that thing in the kitchen with four eyes and a big wide mouth was a stove and not the enemy, and I could use it to make food like Stacey used to make, and maybe be remembered for my food as she is remembered in our family as the one who made great food. Indeed when I think of her I think of tasting love in food. This interest and love for food is what she left for me, to me it was a gift from her, and I thank her for that. Now I cannot read enough recipes, cook enough or bake enough. I especially enjoy baking, and yes I can't get enough of the Food Network or Top Chef. I will be posting some pictures of the food and cakes I make, along with tips that I have picked up along the way. I have found my joy and it is standing in front of a stove creating something delicious for the people I love.
